Don't Let The Credit Crunch Bite Too Hard

By Bob Brightside
2nd September, 2009

The credit crunch has clearly hit many families hard and it is never more apparent than when it comes to the holiday season. Many families are used to packing their suitcases and heading for warmer climates of either Southern Europe or other exotic destinations. These plans have had to be put on the back burner as finances are still tight for many families.

However, not travelling abroad doesn't mean you can't take time out and relax with the family. There are plenty of activities you and your family can partake in without spending too much money whilst relaxing at the same time.

Many activities that you would have normally done on holiday (apart from sunbathing!) can be done closer to home. Holiday parks are a good example of this as there are always loads to do including water sports, sporting activities, dance clubs and more for the family to enjoy themselves.

If you live close to a seaside resort then make the most of the days where we have good weather. This is ideal if you live close to one as you never know what the British summer is going to throw at us. Brighton, Blackpool and Portsmouth are all great places to visit.

If you are an active family then why not get on the hiking boots and go for a trek in one of the UK's fantastic mountains. The Lake District is an interesting place to go walking as there are some superb views and nice walks.

Many families are spread over the UK so now is the perfect time to reacquaint you with them. It can be nice catching up with family if it has been a while since you last saw each other, the same goes for friends that you may have not been in contact with for a while. Chances are that they will be holidaying in the UK too.

It is important, especially if you have children, that there is plenty to do or you may get the feeling that something is missing. There are many destinations in the UK that are great to visit and offer plenty of activities for all the family.

The credit crunch does not need to bite so hard and we can all still have a family holiday. If the sun shines like it is expected to then we will soon forget about holidays abroad as we have enough to do and see closer to home.
