Get Crafty: Mother's Day

By Tiffany Lewins
14th March, 2012

Mothering Sunday is just around the corner, and if you're looking for some last minute inspiration on gifts for the wonderful Mum in your life, why not try your hand at making your own beautiful gift box filled with goodies to pamper and indulge the woman who does it all! Just follow the step-by-step instructions below.

1. Start with a piece of 6.5 x 12 inch cardstock; score lengthwise at 2.5", then widthwise at 2", followed by 2.5" intervals. Cut along the scorelines up to the 2.5" mark in order to fold the box later.

2. Using the same cardstock cut a piece of 8.5 x 1.75" strip. Then cut 4 pieces of accent paper in 2 x 3.5" pieces.

3. Using an eyelet border punch, punch the top of the box, both sides of the strip for the handle, and the tops of the accent papers. Adhere accent papers to each of the four sides of the box.

4. Cut 3 pieces of 1 x 1" cardstock to match the box, then 3 pieces of white cardstock at 3/4 x 3/4" square. Stamp the white paper with M O M (or name of choice) and adhere to 1" pieces of paper, then glue to box as shown.

5. Punch heart shapes out of both colours of cardstock and accent paper and use as decoration.

6. Once your box is fully decorated, place glue on side and bottom tabs and fold to create box. Finally, adhere on handle and fill with her favourite goodies! For an added touch, make a little tag to stick in the bag as well.

If you're interested in more ideas for paper crafting, or would like to order any of the supplies used to create this project, please contact Tiffany Lewins at tiffany.lewins@hotmail.com. Alternatively, you can order a kit to be picked up that includes all cut, scored, punched and stamped pieces for you to assemble at home. Just email Tiffany with the amount, name (i.e. mum, mom, nan, etc.) and accent colour of your choice (purple, orange, red, green or blue). Kits are £5 each and must be ordered by 6pm 15 March for pickup in Weymouth on Friday 16 March. Happy Crafting!
