Rogues Gallery: A Neo-Vaudeville Night Of Delights!

By Jason Hadland
30th September, 2014

I am the producer of 'The Rogues Gallery' - A Neo-Vaudeville Night Of Delights, which will premier at The Barnfield Theatre, Exeter on October 11th.  I originally moved to Torquay from Bristol in 2004 and in 2011 I moved to Okehampton to be closer to Exeter and its thriving music scene. Every show I produce, from small gigs to theatre experiences donates a percentage of ticket sales to charity. Last year over £800 was raised for the NSPCC and this year 10% of profits from The Rogues Gallery will be also be donated.  I have also recently held a ‘Rogues Review’ fund raiser for The Hall, Exeter – a smaller version of The Rogues Gallery, to help raise funds toward the renovation of this wonderful Victorian building. I have since been asked to produce further shows for this cause next year.

The Rogues Gallery brings a modern twist and a hint of darkness to the Victorian vaudeville genre, a 21st century take on television’s ‘The Good old days’ that ran from the 1950’s to the 1970’s. The show stars the best performers from around the South West and also showcases the best of local acts. This is the line up for the 11th October -

Cerys Nelmes:                                                   Award winning comedian & compere.
Marc Lobb:                                                         Award winning magician and mentalist / mind reader.
Miss Von Trapp:                                               Murderously Quirky Dark Cello Cabaret.
The Skull Kids:                                                   Psychedelic tunes with a dark Twist.
Angelique Dominique:                                   Sugar, spice and everything naughty but nice!
The Copperfield Ensemble Project:         The Ultimate Music Hall Experience.
Luna L'Amour:                                                  'She's a Burlesque Jekyll & Hyde'.
GurdyBird:                                                          Symphonie Shenanigans & folktronica.
Fantastic Ms Fanny:                                        Burlesque, Comedy & Cake!
Rags & Riches:                                                   Unique guitar and vocal duo from Exeter.

With all things vintage in vogue right now, and The South West leading the way with more and more vintage shops opening, more diverse acts appearing and the steampunk movement on the cusp of becoming mainstream, this really is the show not to miss. With 10 of the best acts I have seen on my travels from Bristol to Cornwall, there is something for everyone. Tickets are £14.00 and available from www.barnfieldtheatre.org.uk
