Knotty Ash lies between Hyton and Liverpool in Lancashire, NW England. Contrary to popular belief, Knotty Ash pre-dates the Diddy Men dwellers of Ken Dodd’s amazingly vivid imagination and is the town where Ken grew up. By jove, not many people know that missus!
Knotty Ash is so named from a knotted Ash tree, which was originally located near to the local pub. Ken Dodd planted another in 2004.
