Perfect Pods

By Jonathan Smith
9th February, 2012

‘The Pods make people smile. It’s the shape of them. They’re a relaxing and peaceful place to be.’

The unique pentagon construction makes the pods feel roomy inside. There’s space for two adults and two children to sleep comfortably.

‘The camping pods extend the time you can enjoy being out in the open air each year. More and more families are choosing to spend their holidays in the UK, but you can’t always trust the British weather. And the Pods fit well with the glamping vibe. People want to camp in natural, peaceful surroundings, but they want to stay somewhere unique, beautiful and comfortable
too.’

The Camping Pod is insulated to keep the heat in during the winter or a chilly evening. A foil insulating membrane in the roof keeps the Wildwood Pod warm in winter and cool in summer. A high level window at the back of the pod helps keep the living space ventilated and light. The special Decra™ Oberon Roof reduces noise and the sound of heavy rain.

The French doors are double glazed for sound insulation and to reduce condensation.

Each unit is hand-built and available in standard or custom-built sizes with a choice of Farrow and Ball colours to required building regulations.

All WildWood’s pods can be custom fitted.

‘The look of the Pods is important. The larch frame naturally silvers with age, and the muted colour palette makes for a structure that sits comfortably in the most beautiful natural surroundings.’

Aside from traditional countryside camping, the Pods have found a niche as upmarket surf
shacks and beach huts.

‘We custom build board storage and wet suit drying shelves into the surf shacks, giving
surfers space to change, rest, socialise and sleep. There’s nothing better than sitting on the
porch, watching the sun set, after a great day in the surf. And they’re perfect for short beach
holidays, giving families space to make the most of long days out, whatever the weather.’
