By Tara Sinclair
14th March, 2012

MyPhotoSchool (www.my-photo-school.com), a new online photography school – where every course is taught by a world leading photographer – has today launched eight new courses. The courses begin on April 7th, providing a perfect opportunity for would be students to try something new this Easter, whether they be a novice, a hobbyist or an aspiring professional. Courses are bookable immediately via the MyPhotoSchool website and gift certificates are available, making it the perfect gift for Mother’s Day 2012. Every course comes with a 100% money back satisfaction guarantee.

The MyPhotoSchool new online photography courses are:

A Parents’ Guide to Photographing Children.

You know you have the most beautiful child in the world, and this course will help you photograph them with the style, clarity and colour you normally associate with professional photographs. It covers everything from composing shots and handling cameras to creating prints that impress. If you have someone in your life that aspires to be a member of the Mammarazzi, this would make the perfect Mother’s Day gift.

The course is taught by David Handley, Sony World Fashion Photographer 2010 and specialist in children’s fashion photography for clients that included Ralph Lauren, Boden, M&S, Next and Junior magazine.

Backyard Safari Photography

Do you know where the wild things are? They’re in your backyard and this course to help you learn the techniques to capture them – on film at least. You will be able to transfer the skills you learn here to capture the natural world in other locations too, for example, you will understand when to use a flash and how useful fill-flash can be for animals of any size. And much, much more.

This course is taught by Heather Angel, an award winning photographer at the forefront of nature photography in Britain. She was President of the Royal Photographic Society from 1984-86, founder Chair of the Nature Group and teaches part of the MSc course on Biological Imaging at the University of Nottingham. She has also written several books on wildlife photography.

Bird Photography Course

If successfully shooting birds in flight (in the photographic sense only, of course) sounds like your idea of fun, then this is the course for you. This course will teach you everything you need to know from good basic fieldcraft (including how to ‘read’ a bird’s intention to take off), along with the ability to consistently capture well exposed and creative images of birds.

This course is taught by David Tilping, one of the most widely published wildlife photographers in the world. His pictures have been used on hundreds of book and magazine covers, regularly on TV and in just about every other conceivable way from wine labels to being projected in New York's Time Square. Sir David Bellamy has described David's pictures as "windows of wonder".

Creative Flower Photography

Ralph Waldo Emerson was right when he said that “Earth laughs in flowers” but unfortunately, the laugh can be a short one and the trick is to photograph the flower when it is fresh and perfect. This course will teach you how to understand natural light and colour, create satisfying compositions, and some tricks and tips that the professional flower photographers use.

Perfect Landscape Photography

Do you want to take the best landscape photographs possible and make the most of your sophisticated camera equipment? Then this spectacular landscape photography course is the one for you. Learn everything you need to know to create images with real drama and impact, and understanding the challenges and processes involved to get the most out of every environment.

The ‘Creative Flower Photography’ and ‘Perfect Landscape Photography ‘courses are taught by Sue Bishop, a world renowned photographer whose work has appeared in photographic magazines, travel brochures, calendars and books the world over. Sue’s many books include ‘Photographing Flowers’, ‘Digital Flower Photography’ and Colour, Light and Composition.

Digital Low Light Photography

Low-light photography can mean early mornings, late nights and bad weather, but with the right skills and equipment the end result – breath taking images that allow you to see reality from a different perspective – is worth it. This course will not only teach you all about low light photography but also provide you with the skills to overcome any technical problems you may encounter.

This course is taught by Tony Worobiec, the recipient of countless photography awards in the UK and internationally. He is also a regular contributor to photography magazines in the UK and US, and the author of several photography books including The Complete Guide to Digital Night & Low-Light Photography.

Pet Portraits

The person who said ‘never work with children or animals’ had obviously not taken this course in pet photography. Designed to teach you everything about taking striking images of pets – from preparation and how to overcome obstacles such as behaviour (the pet’s), environment, lighting and space – this course will make pet photography a much easier and more rewarding experience.

This course is taught by Paul Walker, who, amongst his many awards, can count being the only person in the UK ever to receive a Fellowship Distinction in Environmental Pet Portraiture from the Master Photographers Association. The press regularly feature his work and he has also appeared on radio and TV.

Understanding Light and Exposure

Light and exposure can make the difference between a good image and a truly great one. This course is designed to teach you everything you need to know about making the best use of light, from understanding the fundamentals of light and exposure to how to photograph the natural world and the human environment.

This course is taught by Nigel Hicks, an associate of the British Institute of Photography (BIPP) and world renowned nature, landscape and travel photographer. In the spring of 2010, he was invited to join the National Geographic Image Collection, the US National Geographic Society's photo library. His many books on photography include The Photographers Guide to Light.

.All MyPhotoSchool courses cost £120, last four weeks and begin on the first Saturday of every month. The beauty of the course being online is that students learn at their own pace, and in the comfort of their own home. Each course includes step by step video tutorials, downloadable course notes, and the facility to chat with tutors and fellow classmates online, in a ‘virtual classroom’. The classroom may be ‘virtual’ but the camaraderie is real, and the technology is very intuitive and easy to use.

MyPhotoSchool also provides a free photography website and a monthly themed competition for members registered to its website, with prizes available. Please go to http://www.my-photo-school.com/ for more information.
